Cosby is My Name

If I could have any celebrity as my father it would be Bill Cosby. Not only would he be a father where I never had one, I think that he would be a great one. He is probably everything that my father is not. He is there, he has an income, and he knows how to show love to young people, even when they are not his.
Bill Cosby treated the actors on The Cosby Show as if they were his own children. He talked to them about saving money and getting good grades. He did not accept disrespect or attitudes on the set. At the same time he still was a father to his own children at home.
There have been many times when I wished I had a father, but none so much as when I purchased my first car. I had no idea what I was getting into! I didn't know what a good deal or bad deal was. I think the interest rate was over 20%! Knowing what I know now, I would have run screaming at such a thing.
A father like Bill Cosby would have taken me to the dealership and showed me what to do. He would have helped me pick out a good car, and one that had a fair price and rate. His mere presence would have given a salesperson pause, and made them treat me fairly. He may have even helped me financially, although I know he wouldn't have outright paid for it. As a father he would want me to have the responsibility of putting some of my own money on the line.
However, in reality I will never have Bill Cosby as a dad. I will still have gotten burnt in car deals and stupid purchases. I will still spend every father’s day wondering what if.
