Lakes and Oceans

The Ocean smells are always tempting to me, salty smell on the breeze; it makes me think of taffy and sand castles. But the lake has a smell too, something different than any other smell. It is odorous but to me, this smell is a comfort. I love the smell of lakes; they give summer its final touch to me.
The lake is a more appealing smell to me, it is summer in its essence because I can get to the lake easier that the ocean, and the lake is where all my friends are and where new friends wait to be made. It is where town gatherings happen around and fireworks are set off at. The ocean cannot compare to the lake, at least, not for me. The ocean has its own qualities but it is always packed and the water is too cold more often than not. The scent gets a little old and after a while I stop noticing it.
The lake's odorous smell never escapes my sense of smell; it reminds me again and again that it is summer and that this is where I feel at home.
At the lake there is rope swings and tubing fun, which can't be had at the ocean. A week at the lake is more fun. The sun doesn't beat down as hard, thanks to the shade provided by the trees. It is quieter and quainter than the ocean would ever be.
The ocean is fun for a few days but a week would be too much. The lake doesn't have the ridiculous prices of the beach; going into town to buy some food would not cost an arm and a leg like at the ocean. Having all these things out weights anything the beach could offer for a week.
