The Adventures of the Crab at the Beach, and His Sunscreen Covered Frisbee

by Jeffry
(South Carolina)

Jack expertly moved through the crashing waves towards his target: Princess Alexandria of Riverton. His mission was simple, he was to rescue the princess from enemy territory during the summer thunderstorm, with only his own body as weapons, and without alerting the enemy captain of his presence. Also, he was a crab.
Jack grew up on the rocky beach Princess Alexandria was being held captive on. He knew these lands from every cesspool to each sunscreen covered frisbee left by an environmentally unconscious human. Jack hated humans more than the average crab. When he was a child his parents were captured in a crab trap set by the biggest fishery in the world: Fish Inc.
Jack dodged a large chunk of driftwood and snaked his way closer to Princess Alexandria. He had to be careful now; he was close to the enemy camp. Any sudden movement by him and the three guards watching over the princess would surely take him out.
Princess Alexandria was being held captive as a strategy of war by King Crustacean. King Crustacean came into power 3 years ago when he betrayed his brother who had no rightful heir to the throne. He immediately enslaved much of the crab population, and a small rebellion ensued.
Well, now the rebellion wasn't so small, and a full fledged war was in process. Jack was just a normal crab who loved to exercise. When the war came around, he was drafted of sorts. King Crustacean's army invaded his town, and Jack had to defend his wife, who was taken from him that night.
Jack swore vengeance on King Crustacean, and vowed he would single handedly avenge her death one day. That day was approaching slowly, but it was not tonight. Tonight he had only one goal: save Princess Alexandria.
Jack scanned the three guards. One was sleeping, another gazing into the sky probably dreaming of his sweat Samantha back home, and the third was nowhere to be seen. A missing guard is always a bad sign. If you can see all of your enemies, you can easily judge your chances of success, but without a visual on the third guard, Jack was going to be fighting blind.
Jack decided to wait a few minutes, flexing his claw. He was always amazed at the amount of power that little beauty possessed. It could crush a crab in two with almost no effort. Sure, any crab's claw could do that, but it never ceased to spark awe into Jack.
After awhile Jack assumed the third guard was UA, and decided to make his move. The sleeping guard shouldn't be a problem as long as he's quiet, and the one daydreaming about sweet Samantha shouldn't make too much noise.
Here's to hoping mystery number three doesn't show up. Jack sneaked up behind sweet Samantha and quickly crushed his head with his claw. A clean kill. A clean, silent kill. Jack saw princess Alexandria asleep like an angel on a rock behind the sleeping guard. Jack crept up to her and started to pick her up, but something wasn't right.
Jack's vision started to go, and he lost control of his claw. Jack turned around to see number three, a beached jellyfish hidden by the dancing flames of the bonfire, with his tentacles wrapped around Jack.
Damn. So close. Jack turned back around so the last thing he saw was Princess Alexandria. His angel that saved him from King Crustacean.
