Ugly Summer Beach

One year, my family decided to go to the beach for a summer trip. We live in Dallas, Texas and since we were on a budget, we decided to go to visit the beach in Galveston. I was very excited to go to there since I've never been to that part of texas. My excitement quickly ended, however, once we walked up to the beach.

It was bad enough that our little motel was very ugly and run down, but the beach itself was awful. Galveston is not a pretty vacation destination. The spot we went down to looked drab and ugly. There were not many people enjoying the water. There was a pungent aroma of fish in the air. The sand was coarse and felt terrible between our toes. There was nasty seaweed all over the beach. And to top it off, the water was rather cold. Needless to say, this was one of the worst and ugliest summer vacation spots I've ever been to.

We stuck with it, of course, since we were already there. I tried my best to enjoy myself since I knew my parents had gone to a lot of trouble to set this vacation up for my sister and I. She, on the other hand, was not helping. All she could do the entire time we were there was complain about the smell and how ugly this beach was. The only saving grace about our terrible beach trip was finding one of the best seafood places I’ve ever tried. It was not far from the water, so the smell could still reach us, but the food was amazing. All in all, I’m glad we went since we got to spend some much needed time together away from the daily grind, but I will definitely not be going back again.
